Wayne State hosts #22 Sioux Falls in key NSIC South Division men’s basketball games at Rice Auditorium this weekend. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats are tied for first in the NSIC South Division with Minnesota State (6-2) and sit 6-4 overall while the Cougars come to Wayne at 3-1 in the division and 5-1 overall with four games being cancelled due to COVID protocols.
Last weekend, WSC won both games at Winona State 58-57 and 84-78 while USF played for the first time in three weeks and split games at Minnesota State losing 90-59 followed by a bounce back 74-62 win Sunday in Mankato.
Sioux Falls won both matchups last season against WSC – 77-65 in Wayne and 75-64 in Sioux Falls.
Wayne State hits the road this weekend to face NSIC South Division co-leader Sioux Falls for a two-game series Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Stewart Center at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Wildcats are 5-5 and 4-4 in division play after splitting home games last weekend vs. Winona State (L 75-70, W 72-61) while the Cougars are 5-2 overall and in the NSIC South Division after falling at home Sunday to Minnesota State 71-67 with the other game in the weekend series cancelled due to COVID protocols.
USF has won the last five meetings against WSC including a season sweep last year – 78-70 in Wayne and 89-75 in Sioux Falls.
