Vipers Outhit Tigers in 9-1 Softball Win

NORTH BEND – NEN picked up a 9-1 road win at North Bend Central in high school softball aired on 107.9 The Bull Thursday night, Oct. 1.

The Vipers got on the board in the first thanks to a Lillie Timm solo home run. Timm scored again in the third off an RBI single by Reese Kneifl.

NBC scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Kate Peters singled home Anna Halladay. The Vipers led 2-1.

NEN then scored four runs in the fifth and added five more in the sixth, winning the game 9-1 in six.

Kneifl went 4-4 with four singles and two RBIs for NEN, Skyler Prokop had a double, single and an RBI, and Timm added a base hit to her homer. Macy Stuhr was the winning pitcher, allowing the run on four hits and a walk, striking out six.

Peters was 2-2 for the Tigers with a pair of singles and the RBI. Halladay and Lara Dolezal recorded the only two other hits for NBC, both singles.

Anna Halladay took the loss in the circle for the Tigers, surrendering the nine runs on 12 hits, a walk and a hit batter, with eight strike outs.

NBC finishes the regular season at 7-18. NEN is now 18-4 and will take part in the West Point-Beemer double dual on Saturday.

Both teams start subdistrict play on Monday.

NBC is in the C-4 tournament at Timmerman Park in West Point, and faces GACC at 1:00.

NEN is in the B-6 subdistrict in Wayne, and will play Crete at 2:00.
