SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – JT Gibson captured the first Summit League Player of the Week award of his career, the league office announced Monday. The senior averaged 19.5 points per game over two contests last week, including an 18-point effort in a comeback win over Washington State.
Gibson finished with 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, helping the Mavericks erase a 15-point second-half deficit to the Cougars. The victory marked Omaha’s first over a Pac-12 opponent and the league’s first win over Pac-12 competition since South Dakota State defeated Washington in December of 2011.
In a loss at Dayton earlier in the week, Gibson led the Mavericks with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. He added three assists and a season-high three steals against the Flyers.
For the week, Gibson made 60.0% from the field (15-of-25), including a 4-of-7 effort from beyond the arc. His long distance makes moved him into fifth place in school history for career 3-pointers.
