SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Senior Emma Dargy has been named the Summit Leagues Player of the Week for the second consecutive week to start the 2020 campaign, the league office announced Monday.

Dargy is the first Maverick to be named the Summit Leagues Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks since Kourtney Pock won back-to-back honors on March 14 and 21, 2016.

The La Vista, Neb., native hit .429 at the plate with two doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored in four games.

Dargy recorded a 1.000 slugging percentage with an on-base percentage of .529.

“Its been great to see Emma have the start shes had this season after seeing the work she put in during the off-season,” said head coach Amanda Eberhart. “She had some big hits for us in some key moments last weekend. When she steps into the batters box, she can be a serious threat for us when she sees the ball and has her timing down.”

The senior led the Mavericks at the plate in the 7-6 series-opening victory at New Mexico State, going 2-for-4 with a home run and career-high four RBI.

In game three, Dargy went 2-for-5 at the plate and hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the eighth to help the Mavericks to a 7-5 win in eight innings.

Dargy wrapped up the series with two doubles and three RBI in Omahas 6-5 loss in the series finale.

The Mavericks continue action this weekend at the UTEP Tournament in El Paso, Texas. Omaha begins play on Friday, Feb. 21 at 2p.m. CT against New Mexico State.
