SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha softballs Emma Dargy and Sydney Hampton swept the first Summit Leagues Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, the league office announced Monday.

Dargy was named Summit League Player of the Week while Hampton collected Summit League Pitcher of the Week honors after helping the Mavericks to a 3-2 record at the Rambler Rumble last weekend.

Dargy hit .455 at the plate with a Summit League-leading three home runs and seven RBI. The La Vista, Neb., native scored four runs and added a double while posting a 1.364 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage.

The senior has homered in three consecutive games in the early start to the season after hitting three all of last year.

“Emma had some great at-bats this weekend,” said head coach Amanda Eberhart. “She has been putting in the work and its exciting to see it pay off. Itll be fun to see her continue to improve as the year goes on.”

Hampton dominated in the circle for the Mavericks, posting a 3-0 record in three appearances with a 0.44 ERA.

The Durant, Okla., native allowed one run in six innings of relief in the season-opening 7-6 victory over IUPUI. Hampton tossed a complete-game two-hitter and struck out three hitters in Omahas 8-0 shutout victory against Green Bay in five innings.

The junior pitched her second complete-game shutout in as many appearances after limiting Miami (OH) to just five hits in five innings and striking out four hitters.

“Sydney was locked in and competed every pitch she threw last weekend,” added Eberhart. “She did a great job of keeping batters off balance and Im proud of her maturity and the pitcher shes becoming.”

Hampton becomes the first Maverick to earn the weekly pitching honor since Laura Roecker on May 8, 2017.

The Mavericks travel to Las Cruces, N.M., to face New Mexico State in a three-game series on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 14-15. Omaha and the Aggies play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. CT before wrapping up the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
