UNO Women drop game to Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – The Omaha womens basketball team continued its non-conference slate on Thursday afternoon, falling 69-38 at Redbird Arena. The Mavericks are now 1-4 on the season while the Redbirds remain undefeated at 3-0.

Leaders For Omaha
Ella Ogier scored a team-high seven points, followed by Claire Killian with six points and six rebounds. Elena Pilakouta added six points, four boards and two blocks off the bench.

Leaders for Illinois State
Terrion Moore, Mary Crompton and Kate Bullman totaled a game-high 11 points each. Juliunn Redmond posted nine points with four assists, three rebounds and two blocks.

Team Stats
Omaha shot 24.5% (13-of-53) to Illinois States 46.8% (22-of-47). The Redbirds totaled a 38-30 advantage in rebounding over the Mavericks while going to the free throw line 24 times.

Inside the First Quarter
Treys from Killian and Mariah Murdie and a layup by Sophie Johnston helped the Mavericks race out to an 8-2 lead in the first three minutes. The Redbirds scored on a layup and three-pointer in the final minute to tie the game at 10.

Inside the Second Quarter
A trey from Killian and turnaround jumper by Murdie got the Mavericks within one with three minutes left in the half. A 9-2 run in the final three minutes gave ISU the 25-17 advantage at the break.

Inside the Third Quarter
Illinois State broke the game open in the third quarter, using a 14-2 run out of halftime in the first four minutes. Pilakouta scored four points in the quarter, going 2-for-3 from the floor with a rebound.

Inside the Fourth Quarter
The Redbirds posted a 21-13 scoring advantage over Omaha. Abby Johnson connected on a three-pointer and went 2-for-2 at the free throw line for five points. Katie Keitges added a trey while Mikaela Ekdahl was 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.
