UNO Softball falls to UTEP

EL PASO, Texas – Omaha softball ended its five-game slate in El Paso, Texas, with a 8-4 loss at UTEP on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavericks slip to 7-7 on the season with the setback.

How It Happened
A pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the third gave the Miners a 3-0 lead through three innings.
Emma Dargy singled through the left side, scoring Grace Boganowski and plating Omahas first run in the fourth.
Diana Murtha reached on a fielders choice and Jamie White was safe on a play at the plate to cut the deficit to one.
Janae Cameron singled home Dargy and Murtha raced home on a throwing error on the play to give Omaha a 4-3 lead.
The Miners took the lead back in the fifth on a two-run homer.
UTEP added to its advantage in the sixth with a three-run home run.

Inside the Box Score
Lexi Burkhardt went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate for the Mavericks.
White and Hailey Bartz added a pair of hits.
Allison Helton, Emily Klosterman, Dargy, Murtha and Cameron recorded one hit.
Starter Sydney Hampton pitched 4.0 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits.
Kamryn Meyer tossed the final two innings in relief and struck out four batters.

Whats Next
The Mavericks head west to compete in the Amy S. Harrison Classic hosted by UC Riverside on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 28-March 1 in Riverside, Calif. The weekend schedule includes a combined five games against UC Riverside, Montana and Michigan State.
