UNO Men lose at KU

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Omaha mens basketball team played its highest-ranked opponent in the programs Division I history Friday night, falling 95-50 to No. 5 Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The Mavericks are now 2-5 on the season, while the Jayhawks improve 6-1.

Leaders for Omaha
Wanjang Tut paced the Mavericks with a season-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting alongside five rebounds. Jadin Booth joined him in double figures with a season-best 11 points, hitting 4-of-8 from the field with two 3-pointers.

Darrius Hughes pulled down a team-leading six rebounds with five points and three steals.

Leaders for Kansas
Ochai Agbaji led all scorers with 18 points with the help of four treys, and David McCormack had a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Mitch Lightfoot (14) and Tyon Grant-Foster (13) also scored in double figures, with Grant-Foster also chipping in seven rebounds.

Marcus Garrett had a game-high eight assists to go along with five points, five rebounds and two steals.

Team Stats
Kansas held Omaha to 27% shooting (17-of-62) on the night while hitting at a 48% (34-of-71) clip with 12 triples. Omaha finished 80% (12-of-15) at the stripe.

The Jayhawks had a 54-31 advantage on the glass.

Inside the First Half
Kansas started the game on a 17-0 run, making six of its first nine shots. Matt Pile scored the first Maverick bucket at five minutes into the first half, and Jadin Booth knocked down his first triple shortly after.

Omaha cut the Jayhawk lead to 16 with 6:18 remaining in the half after Booth grabbed a steal and took it all the way for the bucket and the foul. The freshman completed the three-point play to make it 29-14.

The Jayhawks took a 45-22 lead into halftime.

Inside the Second Half
In the second stanza, Sami Roe got the Mavericks started, canning two threes in the first four minutes. Roe and Tut led the way in the second half with six points apiece.
