OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha baseball program ran past Creighton Saturday afternoon, 8-1, at TD Ameritrade Park behind six runs in the second inning.

• The victory marks the first over the Bluejays since April 22, 2014 (also at TD Ameritrade Park).
• Head coach Evan Porter picks up his first-career win over Creighton.
• Omahas seven-run win is the teams largest margin of victory over the Bluejays since April 27, 1993 (won 14-6) under head coach Bob Gates.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Keil Krumwiede and Brett Bonar led the way for Omaha behind the plate. Krumwiede went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored, while Bonar was 2-for-3 with three RBI, a double and a run scored. In total, Omaha had six doubles in the game. Garrett Kennedy also had a multi-hit performance (2-for-3) with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
On the mound, Richie Holetz improved to 2-2 on the season with 6.0 shutout innings, a career-high nine strikeouts with just three hits and three walks allowed. In relief, Easton Smith had a strikeout in two innings, while Josiah Scott finished the final inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Creightons Ryan Windham gets the loss (0-3) with 1.2 innings pitched and six runs allowed in the second.
INSIDE THE INNINGS
Omaha struck early and never looked back. With runners in scoring position, Bonar singled down the right field line and plated the first two runs of the game. That set up a Harrison Denk double, which scored Bonar for the third run. The Mavericks kept their foot on the gas pedal as Kennedy recorded another double – this time in left – and scored Denk. The final run of the inning came on the teams third RBI-double behind the bat of Krumwiede.
Later on in the fifth, Omaha added some insurance runs on a two-RBI double from Bonar, which scored Smejkal and Krumwiede. A Creighton single up the middle scored the Bluejays only run in the seventh.

Omaha stays in-town with a three-game Summit League series against North Dakota State, March 13-15.
