OMAHA, Neb. – Riding a three-game winning streak in the head-to-head series, the Mavericks continued to roll against Creighton as they took down the Bluejays 4-1 at Tal Anderson Field Tuesday night. This is the first time in the Division I era that the Mavericks have won four consecutive games against the Bluejays.

Omaha (11-11, 4-2) is back at .500 for the first time this year as they also pick up their fourth win in a row this season. Creighton (12-10, 0-0) will see their current win streak end at three as they have now gone two whole calender years since last defeating the Mavericks.

Innings 1-3
The Mavericks came out to an explosive start in the first as Noah Greise crushed a three run homer to the opposite field for his second home run of the season. Then, Devin Hurdle immediately followed up with a solo shot to left to make it 4-0 Omaha.

Meanwhile, Charlie Bell cruised through the first three innings as he held the Bluejays hitless, thanks in part to an incredible diving play in the second by Garrett Kennedy who got the start in center field.

Innings 4-6
Neither team was able to get much going on offense in the middle innings. Though Bell allowed his first hit in the fourth, a 6-4-3 double play eliminated the threat. Hurdle, Henry Zipay, and Eddie Satisky then combined for another clutch double play the next inning, before Kennedy made his second highlight reel catch of the day to get Bell through the sixth.

Innings 7-8
For the first time this season, Bell came back out for the seventh inning. After getting two outs, he surrendered his first run of the day on a double to left. Cooper Prososki was then brought in to limit the damage, promptly inducing a pop up to hold Creighton to a single run.

With a three-run leading heading into the eighth, the Mavericks turned to their closer Rans Sanders to get yet another six-out save. Despite a couple of singles, the Bluejays were unable to make any real progress against Sanders as he struck out a pair to earn his fourth save of the season.

Inside the Box Score
Before going a career-high 6.2 innings today, Bell had previously topped out at six innings in three outings during the 2022 season.

Hurdle went 3-for-3 today as he now has a three-game multi-hit streak and nine multi-hit games overall this season.

After not hitting a home run in his first 13 games this season, Greise now has home runs in back-to-back games.
