Pender Girls Handed First Loss by H/LHF

PENDER – In girls high school basketball aired on 107.9 The Bull Tuesday night, Dec. 15, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family handed Pender its first loss of the season, as the Bulldogs defeated the Pendragons 58-49.

The Bulldogs hit a couple of early three pointers, as they took a 15-9 first quarter lead.

Pender went 8-10 from the free throw line in the second quarter, and got a key three pointer from Ashley Ostrand, as the Pendragons cut their halftime deficit to 26-24.

H/LHF outscored Pender 14-7 in the third quarter, taking a 40-31 lead into the fourth.

The Bulldogs would extend their lead to double digits, before Pender clawed back to within seven points. However the Bulldogs made free throws down the stretch, going 12-17 from the line in the fourth, and H/LHF was able to preserve the 58-49 win.

Penders Ashley Ostrand led all scorers with 19 points, and Zoey Lemkuhl added 13.

Paige Beller led H/LHF with 14 points and Addison Schneider added 13.

The Pender girls are now 5-1 and travel to Stanton on Saturday.
