Oakland-Craig Holds Off Clarkson/Leigh In Boys C2-3 Subdistrict Final

OAKLAND – Oakland-Craig was able to hold off Clarkson/Leigh for a 53-45 win in the boys C2-3 Subdistrict basketball final in Oakland Thursday night, in a game aired on 107.9 The Bull.

Clarkson/Leigh jumped out to a 4-0 lead, before the Knights scored seven points in a row, and took a 13-9 lead over the Patriots after the first quarter.

Oakland-Craig outscored the Patriots 11-6 in the second quarter, and held a 24-15 advantage at halftime.

Both teams were evenly matched in the third quarter, each scoring 10 points, and the Knights led 34-25 after three periods.

Oakland-Craig led by double digits multiple times in the fourth quarter. Clarkson/Leigh would often cut the score to within single digits, with the Knights still being able to keep the Patriots at arm’s length.

Clarkson/Leigh outscored Oakland-Craig 20-19 in the fourth quarter, but the Knights were able to achieve the 53-45 win.

Eli Hays had 15 points to lead Clarkson/Leigh, with Lance Paprocki adding 10. Carter Hanel also contributed 11 rebounds and four blocked shot for the Patriots.

Carson Thomsen scored 13 points for Oakland-Craig, while Jaron Meyer added 11 and Coulter Thiele scored 10.

Clarkson/Leigh ends their season at 13-10 overall.

Oakland-Craig is now 17-7 and will play Bridgeport for a District title on Saturday, with a trip to state on the line.
