Northeast Volleyball sweeps Southeastern

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team used a strong and gritty performance on Saturday to topple Southeastern Community College in straight sets in ICCAC action, 25-17, 26-24 and 30-28 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Hawks (6-13, 5-12 ICCAC) quickly got to work in the first set to hold the Blackhawks under 20 points. In the final two sets the Hawks used a strong rally to hold off Southeastern after recording extra points in each set.

Carly Hirsch (Norfolk, Neb.) tallied 14 kills and four blocks, while recording a .400 hitting percentage. Jamie Bonifas (Blue Hill, Neb.) chipped in 23 assists, while Payton Weber (Alliance, Neb.), Elizabeth Christensen (Stanton, Neb.) and Alexis Kapales (Jonesboro, Ark.) each had 11 digs.

The Hawks take their three-game winning streak on the road at 6 p.m. Thursday when they visit Iowa Western Community College at the Reiver Arena in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
