NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team couldn’t find any offensive production on Wednesday, falling to Ellsworth Community College in an ICCAC doubleheader, 10-0 and 16-4 at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
The Hawks (10-20, 4-14 ICCAC) were held to only three hits in Game 1. Jade Koch (Norfolk, Neb.), Alondra Martinez (Grand Island, Neb.) and Vada Kruse (Norfolk, Neb.) each had a hit. Kierra Stewart (Dodge, Neb.) took the loss, pitching three and one-thirds innings, allowing three earned runs of six hits, while striking out a batter.
The Hawks managed to score a run in the bottom of the second and fourth innings and two more in the fifth, but the Panthers answered every chance they got.
Brianna Aguilera (Pierce, Neb.) went 1-for-3 with a run, a home run and two RBI. Stewart was tagged with loss, throwing one and two-thirds innings, giving up an earned run off six hits. She walked three and struck out one.
The Hawks return to the diamond against Kirkwood Community College for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
