Northeast Men fall at Southeastern

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team shot 53 percent from the field; however, 26 turnovers proved to be costly on Saturday night in West Burlington, Iowa as the Hawks fell to No. 16 Southeastern Community College, 100-83.

The Hawks (11-10, 1-3 ICCAC) managed to take a two-point lead heading into halftime, but the lead was short-lived after the Blackhawks managed to score 53 points in the second half and hold the Hawks to only 34.

Emmette Page (Crystal, Minn.) tallied 29 points and seven assists. Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Australia) added 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Ben Moxness (Scribner, Neb.) chipped in 15 points.

Northeast also shot 55 percent from beyond the arc and 87 percent from the charity stripe.

The Hawks continue ICCAC action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when they visit Iowa Western Community College at the Reiver Arena in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
