NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team had a tough time crawling out of a 17-point deficit at halftime, falling to Little Priest Tribal College, 87-82 on Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
The Hawks (11-12, 1-4 ICCAC) managed to out-score the Warriors 54-42 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as Little Priest went on to pick up its fourth win of the season.
Emmette Page (Crystal, Minn.) recorded 23 points, while Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Australia) added 22 points and 13 boards. Oyiti Amum (Melbourne, Australia) chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds, while Ben Moxness (Scribner, Neb.) tallied 10 points and six rebounds.
The Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 88 percent from the charity stripe.
Northeast battles Southeast Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Norfolk.
NORFOLK, Neb. – Offensive production wasn’t a problem for the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks (21-3, 2-1 ICCAC) scored 30 or more points in three quarters to whip Little Priest Tribal College, 107-60 at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
Kyla Moore (Norfolk, Neb.) led Northeast with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Julia Carbonell (Barcelona, Spain) notched 16 points and five assists, while Beth Matas (Girona, Spain) had 15 points. Emina Hadzihusejnovic (Mostar, Bosnia) added a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Jacalyn Schwanebeck (Hyannis, Neb.), Macey Kulhanek (Howells, Neb.) and Breanna Stouffer (David City, Neb.) all had 10 points.
The Hawks shot 48 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line.
Northeast welcomes North Platte Community College for a 5 p.m. tip-off on Monday in Norfolk.
