The Hawks (7-8, 1-4 ICCAC) jumped out to an enormous 15-0 lead to start the game as they looked to take a strong hold of the contest early. It wasn’t until there was 5:30 remaining in the first half that the Tritons rallied to even the scoreboard at 30-30. The Hawks trailed by three at halftime but were within striking distance of the Iowa Central lead throughout the second half.

The Tritons shot the ball at a 47.5-percent rate while Northeast only shot 31.6-percent from the field.

Amaire Perkins (Sanford, Fla.): 11 PTS, 3 REB, 3 STL

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head men’s basketball coach Dan Anderson on what he thought went well tonight:

“I liked our effort at times,” Anderson said. “I liked that we had 22 offensive boards. I liked that we took some charges, but we surely didn’t shoot it well.”

What Anderson wants to see heading into their trip to NIAAC this weekend:

“Confidence,” Anderson said. “With a few minutes to go there was an outside hope that we could win that thing. We have turned the ball over too much.”

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head women’s basketball coach Matt Svehla on how tonight’s game played out:

“This was a good win for us to get our second semester started,” Svehla said. “We haven’t played since December 17, so there’s always some concern about rust. I really liked our energy early in the game as we got up and down the floor and hit some shots.”

Svehla on the big performances from Fallis and Richards:

“Stevi and Allison both had good games for us and did a good job of pushing the tempo,” Svehla said. “It is only one game, but a good way to start 2023.”
