NORFOLK – Emmette Page (Crystal, Minn.), Ben Moxness (Scribner, Neb.) and Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Australia) each recently signed a letter of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions.
Page will continue his career at the University of Evansville, an NCAA DI school in Evansville, Ind. The Purple Aces compete in The Valley Conference and are coached by Todd Lickliter.
Page re-wrote the record books at Northeast during his two years with the Hawks. He broke the record for most points scored in a career, most points scored in a single season, single-season score averaging, most free throws in a career and most free throws in a season. He also led the ICAC in scoring with 17.6 points per game last season. Throughout his two years at Northeast, he averaged 18.9 points per game and hit 44 percent of his shots from the field.
“We will miss Emmette’s scoring and leadership,” head coach Dan Anderson said. “He always played hard and set a good example in practice.”
Moxness inked with Doane University, an NAIA school in Crete, Neb. The Tigers are coached by Ian McKeithen and compete in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
The dynamic three-point shooter averaged 9.4 points per game throughout his career at Northeast. He started in 25 games as a sophomore and shot 42 percent from the field and 37 percent from the three-point line.
“Ben has a very good work ethic on the court and in the classroom,” Anderson added. “He put many extra hours into working on his game and shooting.”
Akuei will head to the University of West Florida, an NCAA DII school in Pensacola, Fla. The Argonauts compete in the Gulf South Conference and are coached by Jeff Burkhamer.
In two seasons for the Hawks, Akuei scored 597 points and grabbed 429 rebounds. As a sophomore, he averaged 13.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He also shot 47 percent from the field and 45 percent from beyond the arc.
“Daniel is an exciting player to watch,” Anderson said. “He is a very good rebounder and outside shooter.”
