Morningside’s Harris named GPAC Defensive Player of the Week

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – A week that saw tough conference opponents in the form of Concordia and Hastings yielded another honor for Mustangs’ defensive specialist Kayla Harris (SO/Dakota City, NE) as the Great Plains Athletic Conference announced its Players of the Week.

The sophomore from Dakota City, Neb., wearing the libero jersey, recorded a season-high 7.75 digs per set in last Tuesday’s four-set match against Concordia, collecting 31 of her 54 total digs for the week, followed by Saturday’s five-set nailbiter, in which she averaged 4.6 digs per set.

On the week, Harris averaged six digs per set, a metric that she leads the conference in, averaging 5.39 digs per set on the season.
