GULF SHORES, ALA. – Juniors Carson Cameron (JR/Herman, NE) (Herman, Neb.) and Lexie Stolen (JR/Sioux City, IA) (Sioux City, Iowa) and freshman Taylor Richter (FR/Rock Valley, IA) (Rock Valley, Iowa) each collected a pair of hits, guiding No. 20-ranked National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Morningside College in a top 20 showdown Friday, March 6.

Cameron and Stolen each drove in runs, too, for head coach Jessica Jones-Sitzmanns squad in the battle with No. 13-ranked Campbellsville University to begin the Maroons Gulf Coast Invitational games. Senior pitcher Hallie Misiaszek (SR/Mitchell, S.D.) (Mitchell, S.D.) was on the verge of making the 2-0 lead hold up until the Tigers plated four scores on four hits in the sixth. Mside put runners on in the home halves of the sixth and seventh but couldnt answer, falling 4-2.

Morningsides second contest saw them toppled by Bethel University of Tennessee 9-1 in five innings. The Wildcats put up four-run frames in the first and second innings and limited the Maroon to six hits. Senior Courtney Joiner (Carlisle, Iowa) and sophomore Carrington Entringer (SO/Baltic, SD) (Baltic, S.D.) each posted a pair of hits to spotlight the offense.

The Mustangs (10-4) look to shake off a recent slump of four losses in their last five outings Saturday, March 7. They take on Lyon College of Arkansas and Louisiana St.-Alexandria.
