Morningside Men and Women qualify for NAIA National Tournament

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside Colleges mens and womens basketball teams will be a part of their respective National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II Championships beginning Wednesday, March 11.

Head coach Jamie Sales womens program makes its 18th straight national tournament appearance. The Mustangs, 23-9 and third-place finishers in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, are the third seed in the Liston Bracket at the Tyson Events Center. Theyll take on sixth-seeded West Virginia Tech at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in first-round action. It will be the first match-up between the two teams.

Head coach Jim Sykes mens program is the top seed in the Liston Bracket at The Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Mustangs, 26-3 and three-time defending GPAC champions, face off against the College of the Ozarks in the first round. Tip-off is 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. Morningside is making its fourth straight national tournament appearance and is 3-0 all-time against COO with two previous wins coming in national tournament action in 2003 and 2017.
