HASTINGS, NEB. – Seven extra-base hits, including four triples, helped deliver a single-game season-high 16 runs for Morningside College Sunday, April 11.

The Mustangs, pushing aside a four-game skid, broke open game two of a doubleheader at Hastings Colleges Duncan Field with a 12-run rally over the final four frames. Junior outfielder Levi Davidson (JR/Dakota City, Neb.) (Dakota City, Neb.) cracked a double and triple and drove in three; freshman infielder Eddie Brancato (FR/Arlington Heights, Ill.) (Arlington Heights, Ill.) garnered three hits and drove in three; senior infielder Jordan Pierce (SR/Carlisle, Iowa) (Carlisle, Iowa) produced two triples as part of three hits; and junior catcher Braden Smutz (JR/Lake Stevens, Wash.) (Lake Stevens, Wash.) clouted a home run to guide an attack that sent junior pitcher Billy Mount (JR/Burbank, SD) (Burbank, S.D.) to his second win of the season.

Morningsides remaining three games against the Broncos proved difficult. Hastings swept the Saturday doubleheader 8-0 and 9-3 and captured Sundays first outing by a 9-1 count. Sophomore outfielder Michael Boomgarden (SO/Yuba City, Calif.) (Yuba City, Calif.) secured an RBI in the April 11 lid-lifter; Brancato and Boomgarden each collected two hits in April 10s nightcap, and the same pair also had two safeties each in the series starter.

The Maroon (17-22, 9-7 Great Plains Athletic Conference) kept hold of their first four conference status. They continue their slate Tuesday, April 13, traveling to Northwestern College for a 5 p.m. first pitch.
