AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (25-17, 1-11 Big 12) fell 4-1 to Baylor (24-13, 5-4 Big 12) on senior day at the Cyclone Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman pitcher Saya Swain pitched all 7.0 innings for the Cyclones, surrendering just one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts.

Swain and Baylor starter Gia Rodoni were rolling early, with no runs and four total hits allowed through the first three innings. The Lady Bears broke up the 0-0 tie by taking advantage of an ISU error in the top of the fourth.

With Emily Hott on first, Goose McGlaun laid down a sacrifice bunt, allowing the speedy Hott to advance to third. The Baylor freshman then scored on a Cyclone error to give BU a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Bears took advantage of Iowa States second fielding error in the top of the fifth, along with a timely two-out, two-RBI base hit by Hott. In total, Baylor plated three runs in the frame to extend the lead to 4-0.

The Cyclones finally broke through against Rodoni in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore Alesia Ranches collected a lead-off single to right field, advanced to third on a pair of ground outs, and eventually scored on a wild pitch to get Iowa State on the board. However, that would be the only Cyclone offense of the day, as BU clinched the series victory, two games to one.
