Big Inning propels Chadron past Scottsbluff

We had radio coverage for the Scottsbluff home game against Chadron on 101.7 The Trail on Tuesday night.

Scottsbluff enterered looking to get two games over .500 and things started just fine as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tierney Schleve scored on a wild pitch and then Maddie Johnston delivered a two out RBI single scoring Brady Laucomer.

Chadron evened things up 2-2 in the top of the third inning and then took a one run lead in the fourth inning.

The momentum then swung and the game ended in the fifth inning as Chadron scored 12 runs and they get a mercy rule win, 15-4.

In the fifth inning Scottsbluff used three different pitchers, allowed too much contact, committed multiple errors, walked too many hitters and hit a couple as well. It all went wrong.

Chadron scored their 15 runs on just nine base hits while Scottsbluff commmitted five errors in the game.

Mariyah Avila connected on a two run homer to left field in the bottom of the fifth to wrap up the scoring on the night.

Scottsbluff is off until next Tuesday when they travel to Alliance.
