NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team went right to work on Friday, sweeping Iowa Lakes Community College, 25-13, 25-17 and 25-18 in the first round of ICCAC postseason play at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

The Hawks (7-15, 5-14 ICCAC) powered to a convincing first-set win, hitting .286 as a team. Northeast held strong in the second set, tallying 14 kills to only four errors, which was good for a .323 hitting percentage. The Lakers began to capitalize on a few miscues by the Hawks, but Northeast managed to re-gain the momentum later in the third set.

Carly Hirsch (Norfolk, Neb.) recorded 16 kills and a .469 hitting percentage. Payton Weber (Alliance, Neb.) added eight kills and 12 digs, while Elizabeth Christensen (Stanton, Neb.) notched six kills and 21 digs.
