Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2019-2020 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week
Attacker – Anna Wedel, Northwestern College (Outside)
Northwestern’s Anna Wedel is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Wedel, a junior, from Orange City, Iowa, helped the seventh-ranked Red Raiders to a 4-0 record last week. Wedel put down double figure kills in all four matches, averaging a team-best 4.4 kills per set. She hit .315 for the week and averaged 2.4 digs per set while recording a pair of double-doubles. Wedel belted 18 kills in the Red Raiders four-set win over third-ranked Grand View.
Setter- Tara Callahan, Concordia University
Tara Callahan of Concordia University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Calahan, a junior from Brady, Nebraska, accumulated 122 assists (12.2 per set) over three Concordia victories at the Bulldog Bash in Seward. She also added a combined 19 digs and eight kills. Callahan facilitated an attack that hit .318 during the event. The Bulldogs currently rank No. 2 in the NAIA in hitting percentage (.319).
Defender – Kayla Harris, Morningside College (Libero)
Morningside libero Kayla Harris is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Harris, a sophomore from Dakota City, Nebraska, led the Mustangs in digs through the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic, posting impressive numbers in a weekend that included ranked opponents 13th-ranked Rocky Mountain and 23rd-ranked Westmont. Harris totaled 74 digs across four matches, with her weekend high of 25 coming in the Mustangs’ only loss on the season.
