Yesterday at the Scenic Knolls Golf Course in Mitchell it was the Tigers hosting this year’s Girls Western Conference Tournament. Not ideal playing conditions with the wind blowing all morning and afternoon.
For the third straight year it was Gering taking home the team title and they did so by placing all five of their players inside the top ten led by conference champion Madi Schlaepfer.
Gering won the team title with a combined score of 342. Scottsbluff was second with a round of 366. No one else even close at the top, Sidney finished third shooting a 431, then it was Mitchell, Chadron, and Alliance.
Schlaepfer took home the individual conference title with a round of 78. She was followed on the leaderboard closely by teammate Ali Boswell, who was just one shot back.
Gering got a fifth place finish from Avery Mitchell, a seventh place finish from Tayber Meyer, and it was Kelsey Le finishing in ninth place.
Scottsbluff’s top scorer was Anna Kelley in third place with a round of 86. Emily Krzyzanowski of Scottsbluff was fourth with a 86.

Gering, Scottsbluff drop volleyball matches on Thursday
In prep volleyball on Thursday night on KNEB.tv it was a five setter over at Scottsbluff High School as the Lady Cats fought tooth and nail with Cheyenne Central, falling just short in five sets. The finals scores were 25-23, 28-26, 22-25, 20-25, and 15-8.
Scottsbluff fell to 3-8 with the loss. They were led by Emma Foote who finished with 12 kills while adding 31 digs.
Gering couldn’t handle the early season juggernaut up in Chadron. The Lady Cardinals improved to 5-0 (yet to drop a set this season) with a three set win; 25-15, 25-16, and 25-8.
Gering now at 5-5 on the season. Elli Winkler had 11 kills in the loss.

Boys tennis – Gering, Scottsbluff, and Alliance will all play tomorrow at the North Platte Invitational starting at 9 am CT. Scottsbluff will have a dual with North Platte late this afternoon.
Cross Country – Chadron State College is hosting their big meet tomorrow featuring middle school, high school, and college races. The schedule looks like this…
