GACC Falls at Wakefield in Football Opener

WAKEFIELD – We had high school football on 107.9 The Bull Thursday night, August 27. Guardian Angels Central Catholic lost on the road to Wakefield 36-22.

Wakefield held an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

GACC started the second frame with a five-plus minute drive that ended on a four-yard run by Cash Meier to tie the game at 8-8.

The Trojans returned the ensuing kickoff for a score however, going back up 14-8. But the Bluejays used another long drive, capped off by a 24-yard scoring pass from Coy Kreikemeier to Jaryn Smeal, putting GACC up 16-14.

Wakefield would answer right back though, as they took a 22-16 lead into halftime.

GACC got the ball to start the second half and scored on its first possession, a one-yard sneak by Kreikemeier, and the game was tied at 22-22.

Wakefield outscored the Bluejays 14-0 in the fourth quarter, and the Trojans won the game 36-22.

Next up for GACC, they host Lourdes Central Catholic next Friday, Sept. 4th.
