GACC Edges Tekamah-Herman in Boys C2-3 Subdistrict Opener

GACC Edges Tekamah-Herman in Boys C2-3 Subdistrict Opener

OAKLAND – The Guardian Angels Central Catholic boys basketball team kept its season alive Monday, hanging on to beat Tekamah-Herman 50-48 in the opening game of the C2-3 Subdistrict tournament in Oakland. The game was aired on 107.9 The Bull.

GACC took a 10-8 lead after the first quarter, and went on to lead 20-16 at halftime.

Tekamah-Herman came out strong in the second half, and the Tigers outscored the Bluejays 15-11 in the third quarter. The game was tied 31-31 after three periods.

The teams fought each other back-and-forth throughout the fourth quarter. There were multiple ties and lead changes in the final period, but in the end, GACC was able to walk away with the 50-48 win.

Ben Ulrich led GACC with 10 points, while Branden Duhsmann and Nate Niewohner each added nine.

Brock Rogers and Jed Hoover scored 14 points apiece to lead Tekamah-Herman.

The Tigers end their season at 7-15 overall.

GACC is now 5-19 and will play Oakland-Craig Tuesday night at 6:00.
