The BDS Eagles and the Osceola Bulldogs in the boys bracket, and the Cross County Cougars and the Meridian Mustangs on the girls’ side all won their respective semifinal matches Friday, and head to Saturday’s championship games of the Crossroads Conference Tournament.
At Shelby-Rising City High School, the Cougars and the Eagles played each other in both bracket’s semifinal matches. On the girls side, the 2-seed Cougars used hot shooting in the first half to beat 3-seed BDS 41-35. The boys final was an upset in terms of seeding. Junior Tyler Grote scored 24 points for 4-seed BDS as they beat 1-seed Cross County 51-36.
At Hampton High School, in the girls semifinal matchup, the 4-seed Meridian Mustangs shocked the 1-seed Exeter-Milligan Timberwolves 45-43. Mustangs freshman Jaala Stewart hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send her team to the final. In the boys semifinal, the 2-seed Osceola Bulldogs edged past the 3-seed McCool Junction Mustangs 44-41. Osceola sophomore Isaiah Zelasney had a game-high 19 points.
The CRC championships are set and will be played Saturday at Shelby-Rising City High School. It will feature the girls title Cross County against Meridian at 6p.m. and will be heard on KOOL AM and FM, and the BDS and Osceola boys final will follow at 7:30p.m. That game can be heard on 104.9 FM Max Country.
At Osceola High School on Saturday, the consolation matches take place, and will see BDS and Exeter-Milligan girls at 6p.m. on KOOL, and Cross County and McCool Junction boys at 7:30 on Max.
