SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced its 2020 Preseason Softball Poll and Players to Watch list and Emma Dargy and Jamie White represent the Mavericks on the Players to Watch list, the league office announced Thursday.
White led Omaha last season with a .263 batting average while tallying four doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI as a freshman.
Dargy collected Second Team All-Summit honors after hitting .254 with eight doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI in 2019.
Six-time defending Summit League champion North Dakota State was chosen as the leagues favorite after collecting six first-place votes and 34 points. South Dakota finished second with 28 points while South Dakota State was picked third with 27 points and the final first-place vote.
North Dakota tallied 22 points to earn a fourth-place projection while Western Illinois and Purdue Fort Wayne finished in a tie for fifth with 12 points each. The Mavericks rounded out the poll with 10 points.
Omaha begins the 2020 campaign next weekend at the Rambler Rumble in Rosemont, Ill. The Mavericks open the weekend taking on IUPUI on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
