New York, N.Y. — Creighton freshman Carly Bachelor collected the first of many accolades in her Bluejay career as the Kansas native was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday, Jan. 27th. Junior Temi Carda also gathered recognition with a spot on the weekly honor roll.
Bachelor notched her first career double-double on Friday night, then did it again two days later as the rookie averaged 15.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and .688 shooting in a 1-1 home weekend for the Bluejays. Bachelor tallied a career-high 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes off the bench in Fridays win over Xavier. She followed that with 14 points and a career- and game-high 12 rebounds in her first career start on Sunday against Butler.
Carda, meanwhile, guided the shorthanded Creighton squad with 19.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.5 apg in 1-1 home weekend versus Xavier (W) and Butler (L), including a game-high 26 points against the Musketeers
Bachelor, Carda and the rest of the Bluejays head to Chicago and Milwaukee this weekend for road contests at DePaul (Friday) and at Marquette (Sunday).
