Creighton Softball adds Mason

OMAHA, Neb. — Kate Mason has signed on to join the Creighton Softball program. A pitcher/utility player, Mason is a 2020 graduate of Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Ariz.

Mason hit .385 in 95 games during her prep career for the Falcons, including 28 extra-base hits. She batted .330 as a freshman, .473 as a sophomore and .391 as a junior before wrapping up with a .286 average, She produced a career OPS of .980, including a career-high mark of 1.170 during her sophomore campaign. Mason also stole 13 bases in 14 career attempts and did not commit an error in 12 games of her shortened senior season. Primarily a middle infielder, Mason also made 13 appearances inside the circle over her final two campaigns.

She was a three-time All-League and All-Region selection who was twice named All-State on the diamond. Mason also played on the club circuit with Firecrackers 18U, a team that featured seven other Division I signees.

Mason also excels in the classroom, where she owned a 3.9 GPA.

Creighton is coached by Brent Vigness, who enters his 27th season at the helm of the Bluejays in 2021. His 790 wins on The Hilltop are the most by any coach in any sport in school history.
