Omaha, Neb. — The Creighton Baseball team completed a two-game sweep of Bradley with a 9-5 win on Sunday, March 28.

The victory pushed the Bluejays to 6-7 on the season, while Bradley fell to 5-9.

Similar to Saturdays game, the Bluejays jumped out to an early lead. Creighton plated one run in the first and four in the second. The Bluejays run in the opening frame came via a leadoff walk to junior David Webel and a one-out RBI double down the left field line by senior Parker Upton. Creightons four-run second also prominently featured Upton. Senior Ryan Mantle drew a leadoff walk, then sophomore Jared Wegner singled through the left side. A wild pitch sent Bluejays to second and third. Two outs later sophomore Andrew Meggs laced a two-run single to center, then Upton connected on a two-run homer over the right field wall to give the Bluejays a 5-0 advantage.

Both squads pushed across a run in the fourth, then Bradley made it a 6-4 contest on a three-run blast by Connor OBrien in the top of the fifth. OBriens blast Creighton starter Jonah Smith gave way to freshman Cade Lommel for the final out of the fifth.

Creighton responded with its seventh run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Senior Dax Roper opened the frame with a ball to right field that was over run, giving the Bluejay first basemen a triple. Roper came around to score on an RBI single from Mantle one out later.

The Bluejays final two runs came in the eighth, plating a pair of unearned runs on a single, two errors, a walk and a hit batter.

Lommel went on to claim the victory (1-1), allowing one run on three hits in 2.2 innings of relief. Bradley starter Taylor Catton took the loss (0-1), yielding five runs on four hits and three walks in 1.2 innings.

Meggs and Upton guided Creightons offense with a combined five hits (5-of-9) with six RBI and two runs scored. Four Bluejays finished with at least two hits; Meggs (3), Mantle (2), Upton (2) and Wegner (2).

Creighton returns to the diamond on Friday, April 2 as the Bluejays begin a four-game series with Sacramento State at 6:30 pm.
