The Central Community College womens basketball team split two games over the weekend.

CCC won at North Platte Community College on Friday, 68-66, followed by a 66-44 setback at McCook Community College on Saturday. A recap of each game is below.

The Raiders are 11-12 on the season.

CCC returns to Raider Fieldhouse on Wednesday night for a meeting with Northeast Community College. The Raiders will try to even the season series as the Hawks won the first meeting last month, 85-58.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Raiders and the Lady Knights played a close game throughout. At the half, CCC led 30-31. North Platte got a bit of a surge in the third period and led 45-42 at the end of the quarter. The Raiders regained the lead in the fourth and had just enough to hold on for the two-point win.

Monica Brooks logged a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Isabel Diaz scored 14 points, while Allanah Beller finished with 10 points.

“Everyone on the team did a good job finishing the game,” said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. “I was very proud of the effort because it was a physical game. It is always nice to get Region IX win on the road to help us stay atop of the region standings.”

MCC 66 CCC 44

The Indians held the Raiders to 29 points through the first three quarters of play on their way to the big win. CCC shot 31 percent (16-52) from the floor and committed 22 turnovers. However, CCC head coach Billy Perkins had one positive takeaway.

“Defensively we played well,” said Perkins. “When you allow a team to score 66 points, you should probably get the win. We just could not get anything going offensively and missed some easy ones early to take us out of rhythm. I felt the night before played a big factor into our slow start.”

Mia Stewart led the Raiders in scoring with 12 points.
