CCC Volleyball splits at Cloud County Triangular

CCC Volleyball splits at Cloud County Triangular

The Central Community College volleyball team won its first match and lost the second in a triangular hosted by Cloud County (Kan.) Community College on Saturday. A recap of each match is below.

CCC is 7-10 on the year and will be back in action on Tuesday night with a home match against North Platte Community College. The 8-9 Knights swept the Raiders, 3-0, on Feb. 10 in North Platte. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Match 1 vs. Labette (Kan.) Community College

The Raiders defeated the Cardinals, 3-1, in the opener.

LCC won the first match, 25-20, before CCC rattled off three wins for the victory. The scores were 25-12, 25-18 and 25-12.

Rachel Otten tallied 12 kills and six blocks, while Chloe Odbert totaled 36 assists and 14 digs. Emily Otten recorded four aces.

Match 2 vs. Cloud County Community College

The Raiders went five sets with the host Thunderbirds before the home team won, 3-2.

The teams swapped the first two sets with CCCC taking the opener, 25-18. CCC claimed the second set, 25-23. The Raiders won the third set, 25-19, which was answered by a 25-23 T-Bird win in the fourth set. Cloud County won the decisive fifth set with a 15-10 victory.

Jordan Wegner posted a dozen kills and three blocks, while Odbert finished with 39 assists. Devyn Erickson logged 15 digs and five aces.

“We had a really solid day,” said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. “I am proud of the fight our squad showed and the improvements we’ve made over the last couple of weeks. Our offense, defense and serve receive all made big improvements.”
