CCC Softball swept by McCook

March 2nd, 2020 | Beth Rogers

The Central Community College softball team dropped a double-header at McCook Community College on Saturday.

The losses drop the Raiders to 1-3 on the season. A short recap of both games is below:

Game 1: MCC 10  CCC 1

The Indians scores all ten runs over the second, third and fourth innings and the Raiders could never get going. Ragan Wood and Morgan Pinkelman each scored a pair of runs, while Wood added a pair of RBIs.

Game 2: MCC 9  CCC 1

CCC was unable to score until the top of the sixth inning when Wood scored a run off the bat of Nevaya Metcalfe. MCC had already posted five runs and added four more in the bottom of the sixth for the final margin.

“We have to hand it to McCook, they came our swinging and we couldnt answer back at the plate,” said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. “Defensively we saw good things from our pitching staff but we also have to figure out how to limit the big offensive innings for the other teams.”

CCC is back in action on Wednesday with a double-header at the Raider Softball Complex against Peru State JV. The games are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Raiders will take part in a weekend tournament in Concordia, Kan., hosted by Cloud County Community College.

“We are looking forward to this weeks schedule and having the opportunity to get seven games in,” said Simon. “The experience will help us get some consistency on the mound and at the plate.”
