The Central Community College softball team lost both games of a double-header with Hastings College JV on Wednesday in Hastings. The final score in game one was 11-3 and 11-2 in the second game.
In the opener, the Raiders took a 2-1 lead over the Broncos in the top of the second when Kinsley Wimer and Shianne Willmon scored off Shaylee Chilewski’s bunt. CCC increased the lead to 3-1 in the top of the third as Elle Douglas smacked a homerun. The Broncos tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs before scoring eight runs over the fourth and fifth innings to post the 11-3 win.
In the nightcap, Douglas belted her second homerun of the day in the top of the first, which also allowed McKinley Josoff to score for a 2-0 CCC lead. However, the Raiders were unable to score again. Hastings JV scored three runs in the bottom of the first and eight runs in the bottom of the third en route to the 11-2 victory.
Lilly Cast took the loss for CCC in the first game, while Larisa Rother took the loss in the second game.
“Hastings JV hit our pitchers hard yesterday and we couldn’t respond at the plate,” said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon.
The losses give the Raiders an 8-16 record.
Up next, CCC will play its final home games of the regular season on Sunday against Southeast Community College in a double-heard at Raider Field. Game times are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
