The CCC bats were busy as the Raiders swept a double-header with Southeast Community College on Sunday at Raider Field.

As it was the final home games of the regular season, six sophomores were recognized. They were Grace Cargill, infielder; Lilly Cast, pitcher; McKinley Josoff, outfielder; Larisa Rother, pitcher; Kassidy Soulliere, pitcher; and Ragan Wood, catcher.

In the opener, the Raiders built a 7-3 lead through five innings. The Storm evened the game at 7-7 in the top of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, CCC exploded with eight runs and went on to the 15-7 victory. Josoff belted a homerun and totaled three RBIs. Wood logged four RBIs and Cargill finished with three. Cast was the winning pitcher and she tallied 12 strikeouts.

In the closer, the Raiders scored five runs in the third inning and three in the fifth en route to a 10-1 win. Josoff and Rother each smacked a homerun, while Rother and Cast each recorded three RBIs. Rother was the winning pitcher and did not surrender a run in four innings.

“Today was all about celebrating this year’s sophomores,” said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. “This group has stayed together through a lot of change and will leave big shoes to fill. I can’t thank them enough for their commitment to me, their teammates and the program. The sweep on the day just made their day that much more special.”

With the wins, CCC is now 10-16 on the season.

“The most important thing moving forward is playing the way we can and controlling what we can,” said Simon.

Up next, the Raiders will travel to McCook Community College on Tuesday for a double-header. Game times are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
