The Central Community College softball team split a pair of games at North Platte Community College on Saturday. The Knights won the first game, 9-7, followed by a 15-6 Raiders victory in the second game.

In the opener, the Raiders built a 6-1 lead on the strength of Ragan Woods grand slam in the top of the sixth inning. However, the Knights exploded in the bottom of the sixth with eight runs en route to the 9-7 victory.

Grace Cargill and Larisa Rother each went 3-3 at the plate, while CCC pitcher Lilly Cast took the loss.

In the second contest, the Raiders tallied nine runs in the top of the third to take a commanding 13-5 lead over the Knights and coasted to the 15-6 win. CCC hurler Rother picked up the win and went 4-4 at the plate with a homerun and four RBIs. Kinsley Wimer went 2-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

“Going into today, we focused on controlling the controllable,” said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. “Both offensively and defensively, we saw good things throughout the day. However, moving forward we need to limit the one big inning we are allowing teams to have.”

The Raiders are 8-14 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday with a double-header against Hastings College JV. Game times are 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in Hastings.
