CCC Softball loses two at Southwestern

CCC Softball loses two at Southwestern

The Central Community College softball team lost both games of a double-header at Southwestern Community College on Monday.

The final scores were 4-2 in the first game and 15-12 in the second.

In the opener, the hometown Spartans grabbed a two-run lead in the second inning. CCC’s Lilly Cast and Ragan Wood each scored runs in the third inning to tie the score, 2-2. Southwestern made the score 4-2 in the fifth inning and held on from there.

Cast pitched six innings and took the loss for the Raiders.

In the second contest, the CCC bats were busy as McKinley Josoff scored three runs, while Shianne Willmon and Wood each scored two runs. Grace Gargill and Elle Douglas each belted a homerun, while Andrea Fernandez and Larisa Rother each scored a single run.

Three CCC pitchers saw action with Douglas taking the loss.

With the losses, Central is 1-9 on the season.

The Raiders are off until Sunday when they host a double-header with Iowa Lakes Community College. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
