The Central Community College mens basketball team posted weekend victories at North Platte Community College and McCook Community College.

On Friday, the Raiders won 72-68 over the Knights, while on Saturday the Raiders held off the Indians, 67-62. A recap of both games is below.

The Raiders are 16-10 and have won three straight.

Up next, CCC will host Northeast Community College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Raiders defeated the Hawks in January, 96-79, in Norfolk.

The Raiders employed a strong defense and limited the Knights to 26 points in the first half. In the second half, CCC continued to play strong and hit some key free throws late in the contest to post the four-point victory.

Trevion Crawford led the Raiders in scoring with 22 points, while Roman Behrens scored 14 points. Dwight Glover scored 13 points off the bench.

“I am really proud of how we gutted out a tough road win,” said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. “We knew it was going to be a rough and physical game. We did a great job of handling the runs they made at us in the second half and Tre and Roman made big free throws at the end.”

Defensively, the Raiders picked up right where they left off and held the Indians to 27 first-half points. Tre Mikkelsen hit a three-point shot late in the game, which kept MCC from getting over the hump.

Crawford again led the Raiders in scoring with 19 points, while Behrens finished with 14 points. Nathan Frost posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

“Im so proud of how the guys stepped up,” said Ritzdorf. “We battled some minor injuries and with a quick turnaround from Friday nights game, we were anything but fresh. They scored 95 on us at our place back in December, so to keep them to 62 points and only 4-15 from the three-point line was the difference in the game.”
