The Central Community College men’s basketball team defeated Iowa Central Community College, 80-62, on Wednesday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

In the first half, the Raiders built a 32-20 lead before the Tritons closed out the half with a 19-8 run to trail 40-39 at halftime. In the second half, CCC held ICCC scoreless for a six-minute span which allowed the Raiders to build a 64-43 lead. The Raiders’ defense clamped down late as Tritons only managed to score a single bucket over the final three minutes of the game.

“That was the best game we’ve played since November,” said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. “It was great to see our team play a complete game against a quality opponent. “(ICCC) shot the ball really well in the first half, but we did a much better job of contesting shots in the second half.”

Jayden Byabato topped CCC in scoring with 21 points while Tredyn Prososki totaled 17 points. Kevin Cook scored a dozen points and Gavin Lipovsky finished with 10 points. Caleb Muia (Pictured left) hauled in 10 rebounds.

“Jayden played great tonight on both ends of the floor,” said Ritzdorf. “I’m really happy for him because his minutes have fluctuated this year and he’s continued to improve and play hard. Kevin and Caleb were huge on the glass while Tredyn hit some tough shots.”

The Raiders are 13-7 on the year and will return to action on Monday night with a home contest against the Buena Vista University JV. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
