WEST POINT – The West Point-Beemer girls basketball team won a battle over Class B Elkhorn 53-51 in a game aired on 107.9 The Bull Tuesday night, Jan. 19.
The Cadets jumped out to a 24-13 first quarter lead, thanks to 12 early points from Reece Snodgrass.
Elkhorn outscored the Cadets 19-9 in the second, and West Point-Beemer led 33-32 at halftime.
The Antlers started the third quarter on a 5-0 run to take the lead, but after that, the Cadets went on a 12-1 scoring run of their own, and would lead 47-43 after three.
Elkhorn outscored the Cadets 8-6 in the fourth quarter, and had two chances to tie the game in the final seconds, but both shots missed, giving West Point-Beemer the 53-51 win.
Sidney Swanson had 22 points to lead the Cadets, and Snodgrass finished with 18.
The West Point-Beemer girls are now 12-3 and host Twin River on Friday.
