Briar Cliff Baseball swept in Doubleheader by Concordia

Despite giving up four runs in the first inning of game two Sunday, Briar Cliff baseball rallied to push #20 Concordia to the end, but ultimately fell 13-10 to the Bulldogs. The Chargers had a 9-7 lead into the eighth inning before giving up six runs in the frame.

Briar Cliff lost game one 18-0.

Down 7-3 after two innings, the Chargers scored six unanswered runs to take the lead. Jared Sitzmann tallied one of his four hits of game two with a solo homer to tie the game at 7-7 and Jake Federico and Darnell Prince used an error to score a pair of runs and go ahead 9-7.

The sixth and seventh were scoreless for both sides before the Bulldogs six-run eighth inning. Jakob Faulk hit a two-run bomb to tie the game and Concordia tacked on four more for win it. The Cliff could only manage one run in the ninth, an RBI ground out by Harrison Jestel to score Sitzmann.

Sitzmann scored three runs to go with his 4-6 performance.  Connor Lange went 2-2 with three RBIs.

Austin Carter takes the loss in game two, giving up six hits and four runs in 4.1 innings. He struck out four batters and walked one.

Houston Hawkins is tagged with the loss in game one. Matt Hmiliewski and Jake Allen had the teams only hits with one each.

The Chargers move to 23-12 overall and 7-9 in conference games. They will travel to Dordt Friday night before returning to Bishop Mueller for a matchup with Hastings Sunday.
