For the first time in over 40 years there will be a new Head Volleyball Coach on the Wisner-Pilger sideline come Thursday when the Gators take on Schuyler on the road. Thats due to the fact that longtime and legendary Head Coach Jean Groth passed away this past offseason at the age of 64. Longtime and Retired Wisner-Pilger Athletic Director Chuck Ross says he and Coach Groth go way back.

Coach Groth amassed 828 wins in her illustrious 41-year career.

Ross says she left a lasting impact on the school.

Ross says Coach Groth also was an assistant for him in basketball and was also an assistant in Girls Track, and was also involved with Junior High Sports.

Ross says she will be greatly missed.

Ross says having Coach Groth at Wisner-Pilger was a match made in Heaven.

He adds having Kay Raabe as her successor makes things quite a bit easier.

Coach Raabe was an assistant for Coach Groth from 1998 through last year.
