For the first time since the fall of 1978, Wisner-Pilger has a new Volleyball Coach as long time assistant Kay Raabe takes over the program for the late Jean Groth, who passed away at the age of 64 earlier this offseason. Raabe says Coach Groth left a lasting legacy and impact on the school and the sport.

Raabe, who was a player under Coach Groth, has been an assistant for the program since 1998.

Raabe says Coach Groth knew how to run a successful program starting at the bottom.

Raabe says she learned a lot from Coach Groth about knowing the game and the importance of the serve and serve receive battle, and a balanced offense, and strong defense.

Raabe adds Coach Groth also taught her to focus on the present, but plan for the future.

Coach Groth amassed 828 wins in her illustrious 41-year career.

All NSAA member schools are welcome to reopen their weightrooms for voluntary strength and conditioning sessions starting June 1st. Raabe says her team is eager to get back at it.

Raabe says she and her team havent been able to physically get together since about mid-March, but have communicated regularly through virtual means.
