(AUDIO) GACC Softball makes quick work of Yutan/Mead

WEST POINT – Erin Franzluebbers threw a no-hitter, and Aubrey Kreikemeier hit a two-run homerun in the 1st inning to propel the GACC Softball Team to a 12-0 3-inning home victory over Yutan/Mead Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Kreikemeier hit a shot over the left field fence after Brenna Rief led off with a walk and stole 2nd to give the Bluejays a 2-0 lead at the end of one.

GACC added two more runs in the 2nd inning as Livia Hunke drove in Leah Jansen with an RBI Single, and then scored on an RBI Triple from Rief.

The Bluejay bats broke out in the 3rd inning, putting up 8 runs and ending the game via the 12-run mercy rule.

Kreikemeier led the inning off with a triple and was hit in by Kate Gnads RBI Single to put the Bluejays ahead 5-0. Gnad later came around to score on an RBI Single from Jansen, which moved Kayla Fischer to 3rd base from 2nd after she stole 2nd, and gave GACC a 6-0 advantage. Jansen then stole 2nd and a Brynn Baumert walk loaded the bases, chasing starting pitcher Savannah Hassler. Hunke then came up and hit an RBI Double, scoring Fischer and Jansen, and advancing Baumert to 3rd, giving the Bluejays an 8-0 lead. Rief then drove in Baumert with an RBI Single to put GACC ahead 9-0 before Avery Kreikemeier hit a two-RBI Double, scoring Hunke and Rief to make it 11-0 Bluejays. Jenna Schinstock ended the game with a walk-off RBI Single that brought home Avery Kreikemeier to make up the final score.

The Patriots did not record an out in the 3rd inning.

Aubrey Kreikemeier went 2-2 with a two-run homerun while Hunke went 2-2 with three RBI and two runs scored. Rief finished 2-2 with two RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored while Jansen was 1-2 with an RBI Single and two runs scored. Gnad was 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored, while Avery Kreikemeier was 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Schinstock went 1-3 with an RBI while Fischer stole a base and scored a run. Baumert also scored a run.

Kendall Egr was the only Yutan/Mead player to reach base in the game, reaching on an error to lead off the 2nd inning.

Franzluebbers pitched 3 innings of shutout, no hit ball, and struck out 7, picking up the win and improving her record to 10-2 on the season.

Hassler gave up 9 runs on 10 hits in 2 innings of work as she suffered the loss.

Yutan/Mead falls to 4-15 and takes part in the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament on Saturday while GACC ups its record to 13-2 and battles Boone Central and Hastings St. Cecilia at the Boone Central Triangular on Monday.
