Wisner-Pilger has named Chet Beckmann its new Head Boys Basketball Coach, succeeding Duane Mendlik, who retired as the winningest Coach in Nebraska High School Basketball History after this past season. Beckmann says he has a lot to live up to.

Beckmann served as an assistant under Coach Mendlik for 3 years. Prior to that, he was an assistant at Battle Creek.

Beckmann says Coach Mendlik was a very effective coach all the way around.

Coach Mendlik won 694 games over the course of his career that included 12 years at Wisner-Pilger, and 35 at what was then known as West Point Central Catholic.

All NSAA member schools are welcome to reopen their weightrooms for voluntary strength and conditioning sessions starting June 1st. Beckmann says this is a welcome sign for both athletes and coaches.

Beckmann says he wasnt able to have an end of school year meeting with his team due to Coronavirus, but has provided updates to the kids individually.
