YORK- The 40th Yorkfest Celebration kicked off last night with bounce houses for the kids, free hotdogs, the hospital bed races and of course the announcement of the 2019 Yorkfest King and Queen. The pair that were crowned were Jerome and Levauna Weismann.
Jerome worked as an electrician from 1969-194 then was employed at the Nebraska Public Power District in 2003 when he retired. Jerome volunteered with the Yorkshire theatre for over 40 years and also served as the president of the board for CASA for York county. He also served his church as a board member along with being the financial secretary. Currently, he is a member of the Cancer Plus Support Group at York’s senior center and has helped during York County Aging Services with meals.
Levauna, has been serving York for 50 years. During her professional career, she worked as a dispatcher for local agencies. She also has been active with CASA for York County for over 19 years and also helps with the Cancer Plus Support Group in York. She remains active in her church, a regular at York’s senior center, and supports both Emmanuel-Faith schools and a York Dukes sports fan.
